4th Grade

The 4th grade students learned about artist, Wayne Thiebaud. We looked at his painting of various desserts and foods, and how he turned everyday food items into art. The students chose a picture of a cupcake, using chalk pastel we made life-like drawings of the cupcakes. The students learned about blending and overlapping to achieve realism.

4th Grade

The students created paintings inspired my artist Piet Mondrian. We discussed his use of the primary colors and how his composition was made up of basic rectangles and squares, or geometric shapes. Using his techniques, of a simplified grid, the students made their own version of a Mondrian painting.
