5th Grade EDU The 5th grade students learned about the Mexican Holiday Dia de Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. The students made drawings of skulls and decorated them in the style of the known Sugar Skulls. Glitter, sequence and hand made paper flowers were also used for decoration.   

4th Grade The 4th grade students learned about the Mexican Holiday Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead.  They made paper collages of skeletons and decorated them with glitter, gems and sequence.  4th Grade EDU The EDU students began this lesson by going on a nature hike,  collecting various leaves from trees and bushes. We then made observational drawings of the leaves, focusing on drawing big and overlapping. Our drawings were traced in oil pastel and colored in with watercolor paints. 6th Grade EDU The 6th Grade EDU students worked on making observational drawings of sunflowers. We did the drawing on black paper and traced our drawing with glue. The students used chalk pastel for color and blending. Where ever the glue was, it maintained the black color of the paper, allowing for parts to almost outlined.

Welcome Back Village School! The start of the school year was great! It's always fun to see so many familiar faces return and also meet all the new students to our Village Community! We've been working hard since September on our amazing artwork, and are pleased to share with you what we have been creating in class! 4th Grade Pablo Picasso Portraits The 4th grade students learned about artist Pablo Picasso. Using his techniques of cubism, the students created abstract portraits. The students also learned about a Monochromatic Palette, and incorporated that into the coloring of their portrait. 5th Grade Watercolor Symmetry The 5th grade students learned about Symmetry -the quality of being made up of exactly similar parts facing each other or around an axis.  The students used rulers, compasses and tracers to create a symmetrical design. 4th Grade EDU  The 4th grade EDU students used printmaking techniques for this lesson. They chose an animal and drew it on foam board. We practiced using ink in one color and in multiple colors. Each student  added a border to their final work to complement their print.   5th Grade Watercolor Pencil Landscapes 5th grade learned about landscapes and how they have 3 parts to them, a foreground, middle-ground and background. They each got to create landscape that was either realistic or imaginary. Using watercolor pencils the students added color. Sharpie markers were used to add detail.

6th Grade The 6th grade students are learning about Vincent Van Gogh and his style of painting. Each student chose a Van Gogh painting and created a rendering of it. Oil pastels were used to mimic his brush strokes and color .

5th Grade EDU The 5th Grade EDU students made City Prints. We focused on creating cities on foam board that showed depth and overlapping. The students used watercolor to paint a two-part background, focusing on warm and cool color washes. The students made prints of their cities on the warm side of their background, and ghost prints on the cool side to give the sense of a reflection.
